Is this going to be the next big thing….yawn.

There have been multiple (perhaps thousands of times..ok perhaps a few) times when I have had a conversation about what the next big thing is. Unfortunately, my mouth can’t speak as quickly as the situation changes so I am never going to be able to keep up. First it was search (years ago), now its social networking, then more specifically it was MySpace, then YouTube..or was it YouTube then MySpace…then Facebook…and now…….Pownce.

Pownce is currently limited to only a few invites and as I wasn’t quick enough to join in Mashable’s jamboree giveaway, I am still waiting for an invite.  Pownce has a very understated view of itself calling it a place “to send stuff to your friends”. In other words a place to send files, photos, links, events etc. For example you can send an invite to all of your friends to say “I’m having a house party” and then track responses.  You could argue this is what you can do by creating groups or being invited to events on Facebook but Pownce seems to think it takes it one stage further. Anyway, the whole debacle over getting an invite will continue and the hype will grow and grow.
