Although still considered to be in its Beta testing phase, Joost has now released figures showing that it has hit 1m+ users since its launch. Its generally unusual for start-ups to release figures this early but perhaps Joost is pandering to the constant requests from advertisers to know user numbers.
Joost is currently testing advertising over a three month period with GM, Philips and other advertisers, which gives these advertisers exclusive rights to the content for this period. Teething problems appear to have occurred however and this period which should have finished in late August/Early Sept now appears to be dragging on into end September. However, from an agency perspective I feel Joost are approaching this in the right way to gather learnings to give future transparency to advertisers.
