Beliefs for 2009

After making some relatively accurate predictions, was 2008 really the year of mobile? I thought some late 2009 predictions may be of interest. Something to benchmark myself against if you like.

1) As Kangaroo loses its bounce, it will be replaced by the UK cousin of HULU. The UK market is crying, literally, for a HULU.  Jason Kilar, if you are listening please get in touch. Great article from FastCompany on Hulu here http://www.fastcompany.com/fast50_09/profile/list/hulu

2) Mobile will go full throttle. LG are developing their MPH product, viewing TV content at up to 100MPH, so no doubt we will see high quality programming for mobile. Brands would be wise to get into bespoke content for mobile opportunities.

3) Social media will become what everyone does, rather than just what everyone talks about. We need it, we use it, yet we seem to talk about it more than getting brands into it. Twitter will help brands communicate effectively and swiftly. Exclusive social networks will become a strength for brands to push membership.

more to come…
